What is Counseling?

Counselling is a talking therapy that helps you deal with emotional issues in a safe context. The key skill of a Counsellor is to be an empathic, active listener, without judgement or criticism.

In spite of what the word might suggest, a Counsellor won’t offer advice but will ask questions in response to what you say. The aim is to help you find your own solutions to your issues, rather than trying to impose a solution from outside.

    Most of us aren’t in harmony most of the time. Even at best, it can make us feel discontent and unhappy with our lives, but it can often create serious difficulties in coping.

    I can think of nothing more important to do with my life than to help people deal with these difficulties and move towards this harmony. The techniques I use — Hypnotherapy, Reiki and Counselling — are ideal for achieving this.

    And, of course, giving can always give back. My idea of personal fulfilment is to make a difference in people’s lives.

    I was going through quite a tough divorce and had extreme depression and confidence issues. I attended a local divorce support group and they referred me for counselling to Savita, since last August I have been attending regularly and am in a much better position and turning things around in my life.
